Game, set and match DooM.
[soma - 2007-08-11 17:55:38]
63 matches after the starter's gun was fired, QuakeWorld Summerjam 2007 has a winner. Russian legend DooM was able to win the trophy after a 5 map brawl with Sweden's Valla. Links to demos of both the final and the semi finals are available via the tournament's Wiki entry.
Unfortunately there were some issues with the rules and the administration of the final for which I would like to apologise to players as well as spectators.

Without wanting to pat myself on the shoulder too much, I think I can say that this tourney was quite a success. Out of the 63 matches an entire 61 were actually played, leaving only 2 games that resulted in a WO. While the quality and quantity in small duel tournaments such as Summerjam is obviously not as high as in Ownage or Duelmania, I think a lot of people enjoyed watching the games and betting their cash on Goldrush.

Thanks to the players for being so reliable and actually caring about the organisation of their games. Thanks to the specs, news writers, qwdrama and Quakeworld.nu for their support. See you all in 2008, I guess.

As you may have heard: Goldrush, the QuakeWorld betting site hosted by qwdrama is back on it's feet. That means from now on you can all bet on scheduled summerjam games! I suggest you head over to Goldrush and sign up now.
So let's sum it up!
[soma - 2007-07-26 01:11:31]
Out of 32 games, 26 have been played, leaving us with 6 unplayed games.
Of these 5 games, it was 5 times the case that one of the players didn't show up or couldn't play and once that it was both players. Thus, there were 7 inactive players which were replaced with 8 players on the waiting line.
Those 7 new players were distributed randomly on a server, using the "cmd rnd" function. If you want to see how it worked, download this.

This leads us to the following new pairs:
Exile vs. Dot (instead of Glt vs Jaco)
Bloodninja (instead of Roelis) vs jOn
Disconnect (instead of Espenaj) vs Nitram
Billy (instead of Daan) vs Torben
Bon3z (instead of z0det) vs Bulat
Krab (instead of Djmalak) vs Doom

So... those people on this list now have until Sunday 23:59 CET (and not a minute longer) to play their 1st round AND their 2nd round (if they win) games. So don't schedule your 1st round game for sunday - play it as soon as possible.

Also, please check this page regularly to read through the news. It's not that hard and not a lot to ask for.
